Return What a Graffiti Contest in Taiwan Is LikeThe graffiti scene in Taiwan never ceases to surprise and grow. This time, with a focus on climate change, Vincent Arts - our distributor - has once again breathed enthusiasm into graffiti writers, thanks to a contest held in the city at the end of August, where the winners received succulent prizes.
The contest, promoted by Inknomad, was held at Mansion Square on August 26th and 27th and was judged by graffiti writers Xeme, a prolific writer from Hong Kong, Dezio, of French origin, and the Russian Wais, all of whom share extensive and recognized international trajectories.
Xeme, who we have already talked about in MTN World, is a very versatile writer, his range runs from traditional signatures, to Chinese calligraphy, to pixelated words and graphics, which little by little are comprising the urban landscape of his city.
Dezio has exhibited at the Grand Palais, the Artazard and La Maison des Metallos in Paris, where he has managed to transfer his graffiti from wall to canvas.
Wais, famous for his three-dimensional graffiti style, has twice been the winner of the international Write4Gold competition.
The prizes for the competition, quite attractive at that, encouraged many writers to participate. The top three prizes were decided by the judges, and a fourth prize was decided by the public that attended the event.
Faso and Miss N took the 3rd prize of 15,000 Taiwanese dollars.
Space won second prize for the 20,000 Taiwanese dollars and the popular vote.
Disk took first prize and 50,000 Taiwanese dollars.
