Return Wash Primer for Metal and Aluminium SurfacesWHAT IS THE WASH PRIMER FOR?
In general, metals have certain physical characteristics that prevent paint from sticking properly to them. On one hand, due to the completely smooth surface, the paint can’t get an optimal grip and ends up chipping off. In addition to this, the corrosion or rusting of the metal will generate problems that will affect not only the paint layer, but also the physical stability of the element in question. In fact, the main problem metal parts face is corrosion, which can lead to safety problems.
The wash primer is a specific type of primer designed to protect metal and allow good adhesion of paint. So when you are painting metal, it’s essential to use this product to prevent the material itself from causing the paint to deteriorate and peel off.
FEATURES OF THE SPRAY WASH PRIMER
The exceptional adhesion that MTN PRO Wash Primer spray has on aluminum, galvanized steel or other types of polished metals means that this is a much more versatile product than a simple primer for aluminum or electroplating. Thanks to its properties, this tool is designed to function as a base layer prior to painting garage doors, shutters, copper pipes or aluminum profiles.
What’s more, it’s also effective as a primer for carbon fiber, polyamide 6, epoxy, acrylate, PVC, PC, ABS and polyester plastic surfaces. Not only that, the Montana Colors wash primer also serves as a base coat for surfaces painted with polyester or 2k epoxy type paints, as long as you’ve sanded the surface.
As well as its great adherence, this metal primer paint and aluminium primer spray is very fast drying and its formulation is lead-free.
HOW TO USE THE MTN PRO WASH PRIMERAfter thoroughly cleaning and degreasing the surface to be painted, just follow the same steps as you would when using almost any paint, primer or lacquer in aerosols.
Shake the spray wash primer for at least one minute and apply it using fast, thin strokes at a distance of about 20 cm, keeping the spray can in the most vertical position possible. Once finished, prevent the nozzle from clogging by spraying the aerosol upside down until only gas comes out. If you use the entire product, remember that the packaging is recyclable: dispose of it properly.
To complete the preparation process, apply a coat of MTN Primer Grey Primer, following the same steps. Once dry, you can proceed with the painting.
This process varies slightly if it’s a rusty metal surface, since you have to brush and sand the surface to remove as much rust as possible before applying the wash primer.
VARNISHES AND PRIMERS FOR DIFFERENT NEEDS
The wash primer has a very specific use that makes it especially useful in the field of motoring. However, due to its primary function, you can find this product in the category of Primers and Varnishes in the MTN PRO range. This section groups together other primers for specific materials, such as the anti rust primer, the primer for plastics and matt white base primer; as well as other varnishes for specific uses, such as the acrylic varnish spray, the synthetic varnish paint, our teak oil spray and the 2K - two component varnish spray.
