Return The Definitive Guide to VarnishesThis spray varnish has three versions: glossy, satin, and matte. It is used to make the surface finish look the same.
MTN PRO has fewer varnishes than primers, but their uses are not as distinct. This is what we are here to explain to you in the easiest possible way in this article.
WATER-BASED VARNISHES: THE FUTURE NOW
Recently launched, water-based varnishes represent the latest generation of this type of product. They are aerosol varnishes whose composition makes them less aggressive to the environment and more innocuous to the senses. In addition, their aqueous formulation has a lower risk of reaction on different types of paint.
Water-based indoor protective varnish: to unify finish.
This product is used to add an extra layer of protection to decorative items. The main function of this spray varnish is to unify the surface finish, and is available in three versions: glossy, satin and matte.
Water-based outdoor protective varnish: wood and outdoors
This spray has three versions: glossy, satin, and matte. It is used to make the surface finish look the same. That is why it is the right choice for wood varnish.
ACRYLIC VS. SYNTHETIC
Traditionally, the two spray types of varnishes available in the MTN PRO range were divided into the two classic formulations: acrylic and synthetic. They are also available in gloss, matte and satin finishes respectively.
Acrylic varnish: complete transparency
Acrylic varnish spray, due to its formulation, tends to be more innocuous on all types of paints and surfaces. In addition to this, it is completely transparent, so that its application on white surfaces is not noticeable.
Synthetic varnish: flexibility and resistance
The resistance and flexibility qualities of MTN PRO synthetic varnish spray make this protective product traditionally the best choice for varnishing wood. Its subtle yellow tone, not recommended for white surfaces, enhances the color of the grain in this type of material.
DIFFERENT OPTIONS FOR VARNISHING WOOD
For varnishing wood, whether indoors or outdoors, there are three spray options available, each with their own explanations of differences.
Outdoor water-based protective varnish: greater convenience when applying and requires no maintenance.
The outdoor protective varnish is specially designed to protect the wood from the inclemencies of the outdoors. The water-based version is the most convenient due to the characteristics mentioned above.
Synthetic varnish: the maintenance-free, lifelong product.
Synthetic varnish is also a suitable option to protect wood from weathering, thanks to its elasticity.
Teak oil: greater protection and organic nutrition of the wood, requiring periodic repainting.
Teak oil is the product that best protects elements of this type: it nourishes the wood offering resistance to weathering and hiding scuffs and scratches while highlighting its natural color. As it is a product that is absorbed by the material, it is recommended to repaint the item twice a year.
MAXIMUM PROTECTION: THE TWO-COMPONENT VARNISH
2K Varnish is the one that offers the best protection due to its resistance to chemical agents. Because it is expensive, it is only chosen when we need strong protection or resistance to solvents.
GLITTER VARNISH: AN EFFECT MORE THAN A VARNISH
There is another aerosol in the MTN PRO range which, although labeled as a varnish, is more of a decorative product. This is Glitter Varnish, a paint with glitter which, being transparent, receives this nomenclature.
