Return Summary events Autumn 2020The sheer volume of cultural events with Montana Colors backing has been truly inspirational, especially given the current restrictions on the use of public space. Organizers have pressed forward to adapt their programs of artistic activity to the highest standards of quality and safety, filling the gap in a year with many other dates in the cultural calendar cancelled.
We recently published the conclusion of the first edition of the MTN Virtual Residency, which asked selected artists Nicolás Romero EVER and Motomichi Nakamura to work for a month on the topic of the new normal. The artists ended up representing both sides of the quarantine, the introspection and curious take on consumerism in the paintings of EVER contrasting perfectly with the paranoia of Nakamura’s monsters mapped onto industrial structures around his New York base. The video was debuted at Kronos Art Festival in Barcelona, which also included a live painting event supported by Montana Colors.
Festival Asalto, Spain’s largest and oldest gathering of muralists, invited some of the top talent of the Iberian peninsula to Zaragoza, whilst Gargar continued to develop as a unique opportunity to showcase large scale pieces in a rural setting near Lleida. Delas Fest in Galicia provided a platform for an all female line-up at their inaugural event. Cultura Inquieta also debuted a new initiative, with the CIUrban Fest in Madrid, which included a work by BOA MISTURA that attracted attention from the national press.
Closer to home, we’re pleased to report that the B-Murals open call for interventions at the Barcelona mural gallery remains open until 15th November, and the organization have a fair planned for 13-15th November.
