WHAT EXACTLY IS METALLIC ACRYLIC PAINT?

There are several types of paint that produce a metallic finish, but for us, metallic acrylic paint refers exclusively to one specific type of paint. For example, chrome effect paint could be considered a metallic paint. However, we use the word “metallic” exclusively to refer to paint composed of metal particles, which creates a very particular shine with sparkling effects that accentuate the depth and shape of the painted element. Thanks to these qualities, this type of paint is used mostly in the automotive world.

THE MTN PRO METALLIC PAINT METALLIC PAINT: FEATURES AND METALLIC SRAY PAINT COLORS

Montana Colors has its own line of metallic paint in the MTN PRO range. It’s a metallic acrylic spray paint that has high covering power and elasticity, great adherence and dries quickly, not forgetting its user-friendly aerosol format. The paint can be applied to all kinds of objects and surfaces, and also works as metallic wall paint. 

The paint comes in nine metallic spray paint colors, including gold spray paint which produces a metallic gold paint effect; pink, which gives a pearl finish; and aluminum, which looks like metallic gray paint.

HOW DO YOU USE METALLIC PAINT?

Like when you use any spray paint, it’s important to shake the metallic acrylic paint spray vigorously for a minute after you hear the sound of the mixing ball. Before pointing at the surface in question, we recommend trying out the spray on a test surface. 

Holding the spray can in a vertical position, spray the paint in quick and fine strokes at a distance of about 20 cm, letting it dry for five minutes between coats. It’s always better to apply many thin coats rather than few thick ones, to avoid build up and drips. 

To avoid clogging the cap before the next time you use the aerosol, we recommend inverting the can and spraying until paint stops coming out of the nozzle when you’ve finished. 

Remember that the cans of the MTN products are recyclable, so once the spray is used up, dispose of it according to the local recycling regulations.

RECOMMENDATIONS WHEN USING METALLIC ACRYLIC PAINT

To guarantee a good adherence of the metallic spray paint, we recommend using a primer that ensures optimal application. Choose an appropriate primer based on the material that you want to paint; for example, a plastic primer spray, an anti-rust primer spray or the gray filler primer if it’s for bodywork.

Remeber that the Gold and Silver metallic paint are more effective if you apply them on dark paint. For this reason, you might want to apply a black coat after the primer and before the metallic coat.

Although the MTN PRO metallic paint doesn’t require a final varnish, applying a coat of MTN Gloss Acrylic Varnish Spray or MTN Gloss 2K Varnish Spray will greatly enhance the result, guaranteeing a striking and durable metallic finish.
