Return Discover the Quality of Our Gesso Canvas PrimerWHAT EXACTLY IS GESSO PRIMER?
If you've ever bought a perfectly prepared canvas to paint, like the ones you can find at any fine art store, you'll notice that the canvas is covered in a layer of white paint. This layer is what we call “gesso” and its job is to prime the surface so that the paint can be applied in optimal conditions. MTN PRO Gesso Primer will allow you to achieve this finish, turning surfaces into perfectly prepared canvases.
GESSO PRIMER TRIVIA
The word gesso comes from plaster, which refers to both its composition as well as its density. In fact in fine art, gesso primer is also used to provide texture to the surface, which is why it’s more viscous than normal primers.
THE ADVANTAGES OF GESSO PAINT PRIMER SPRAY
Montana Colors offers the possibility of having this product in an aerosol version. This format greatly facilitates both its application and storage. What’s more, you won’t need instruments like brushes or spatulas to apply it, and you avoid the inconvenience of cleaning them afterwards.
FEATURES OF THE MTN PRO GESSO PRIMER
The MTN PRO Gesso Primer is a water-based primer spray developed for preparing porous surfaces such as cardboard, canvas and fabric used for artwork. It’s fast drying, has excellent flexibility and adherence, along with high opacity. This product is compatible with any type of canvas paint, so it can be used as an oil paint gesso primer and an acrylic paint gesso primer.
HOW TO USE THE GESSO SPRAY
Conventional gesso can be quite complicated to apply. But the MTN Gesso Primer spray is as simple to apply as any other spray paint. Making sure the surface is clean, just shake the container well for a minute after hearing the noise of the mixing ball and apply the gesso to the canvas or whichever surface you like in thin layers and at a distance of about 20 cm. The finer and more numerous the layers, the better the result will be.
Remember that after using the product, we recommend inverting the spray and spraying it so that only gas comes out. That’s how to purge the cap, meaning there is no need to buy a new one the next time you need to use the tool.
MTN aerosols are made of recyclable materials, so make sure you dispose of it in the most appropriate way once the product is used up.
THE FINE ARTS RANGE OF MTN PRO
Although it is the smallest category of the MTN PRO, the MTN aerosols for professional use include products that meet different needs in the artistic field, like Fixative Lacquer or varnish for canvas.
