WHAT IS MTN PRO ZINC GALVANIZED PAINT?

MTN PRO Zinc galvanized paint is an anti-rust product formulated with thermoplastic acrylic resins in addition to zinc and aluminum powder. It’s a paint for very specific designed professionals and experienced users.

However, no-one is born with this type of knowledge, so we’ve written this article to break down the particularities of the paint and its uses.

WHAT IS GALVANIZED ZINC PAINT?

Galvanizing is a process by which a metal is protected by covering it with another that is more sensitive to corrosion - generally zinc. The outer metal layer protects the coated element by a chemical process known as cathodic protection.

Galvanizing is generally carried out with complicated electrochemical processes, providing metallic objectswith great anti-rust protection with a very particular metallic finish.

*There is another process called “cold galvanizing” which simply consists of covering metal with paint containing a high percentage of zinc, like the MTN PRO Zinc 99%. By using this spray paint, you’ll obtaindecent protection, although you won’t achieve the metallic finish associated with electrochemically galvanized metals.

But what do you do when the galvanized surface deteriorates or wears out? This is where galvanized zinc spray paint comes into play.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN GALVANIZED ZINC SPRAY PAINT AND ZINC 99%

You could say that the MTN PRO Zinc galvanized paint is especially designed to touch up parts of galvanized metal objects that have been damaged. However, the anti-rust power of this product isn’t as effective as the 99% Zinc paint, since it is formulated for a finish that bonds with this type of metal.

The product is therefore best suited for use in the automotive industry and DIY, since construction, metal doors and welding are some of the ideal places to use the paint.

ONE PAINT, THREE FINISHES

As not all galvanized parts have the same finish, this product comes in three versions: matt zinc, bright galvanized and clear zinc.

HOW TO USE THIS SPRAY PAINT

Like with most aerosols, you have to shake the spray thoroughly for about a minute. If the object is rusty, you’ll have to scrub it first with a wire brush. After cleaning and drying the surface, apply thin layers of the product. You’ll obtain better results if you apply several thin layers than one thick one.

We recommend shaking the spray constantly during use as its pigments settle easily.

Once finished, turn the can upside down and spray in that position to prevent the cap from clogging. If the capis clogged the next time you use it, simply replace it with a new one.

*Do not apply the paint to electrical equipment connected to the mains, and use in well-ventilated areas.
