Matt White Base Primer Spray

WHAT IS THE MATT WHITE BASE PRIMER?

The MTN PRO Matt White Base Primer is a white paint with a matt finish especially designed for use as a white primer: the coat that you apply before painting, in order to prepare the surface and improve the performance of the paint. Montana Colors offers this tool in the definitive painting format: the aerosol. Thanks to this handy aerosol, this product is more useful, easier to apply, more convenient to store and more fun to use than conventional primers.

WHAT DOES THE WHITE BASE COAT DO?

- Stops the absorption of paint into porous materials. On surfaces such as wood or ceramics, applying the paint directly is usually a mistake. Unprepared surfaces like these tend to absorb the color, resulting in the need to apply more coats, meaning a waste of paint and the risk of an uneven and unprofessional finish. 

- Guarantees the finish. As well as sealing pores in the surface, the base paint provides a white surface designed to produce homogeneous results, both in color and finish after applying the paint. The white base paint is essential before applying fluorescent paints, since their lack of total opacity can leave visible paint strokes or fail to cover details of the surface. 

- Improve painting efficiency. If you’re going to apply a light or very striking color to a dark surface, a white base layer will help you to make the paint perform better without compromising its opacity. You’ll save paint, and it’ll be easier to achieve a perfect finish.

PROPERTIES OF THE MTN MATT WHITE BASE PRIMER

The Matt White Base Primer is a white primer spray for wood or other materials, formulated with solvent-based acrylic resin. It’s fast drying, has great adhesion and is produced without lead or other metals. These are just some of the characteristics that add to the excellent covering power of this non-yellowing white spray primer.

HOW DO YOU USE THE MATT WHITE PRIMER PAINT?

The Matt White Primer performs in a very similar way to spray paint. In fact, you can treat it like a spray paint with the special properties of a primer.

Just like with any spray paint, you have to mix the paint before using it by shaking it for at least one minute. We then recommend testing the flow and power of the spray before applying to the surface in question.

Once you’re ready, you should apply fast and fine strokes at a distance of about 20 cm, keeping the can in a vertical position. Remember that it’s always better to apply four thin coats than one thick one.

Once you've finished painting, you can clean the nozzle by turning the can upside-down and spraying until only gas comes out. This will prevent the nozzle from clogging.

After 10 minutes, the surface will be prepared and you can apply the final coat of paint.
