BRIEF HISTORY
The Water Based family is a range of MTN products that has been developing in parallel with the needs of our customers. The range includes a series of creative tools united by one common ingredient: water-based paint. In the Water Based family we find three types of products: spray paint, markers and refills, all of them consisting of water-based paint that share the same color range.
Water Based paint is a type of fast drying, high opacity paint that comes in a range of brilliant colors. Due to its formulation, this paint can be mixed with water before drying, which allows it to be manipulated with different techniques and even combined with other colors, extending its possibilities immensely. Despite being water soluble during use, this paint becomes water resistant after drying and can be varnished to provide extra resistance.
SPRAY FORMAT: THE MTN WATER BASED 300
The MTN Water Based 300 Aerosol is the first product of this group of creative materials. Created in 2014 as the world’s first water-based spray paint, it was launched as a response to the new needs of street art and studio work. The result was a versatile aerosol, in a new and manageable odorless format with low ecological impact. The lack of odor is what has made the Water Based 300 the preferred aerosol of subway writers in many cities, as it is difficult to detect its use by smell - a trend unforseen to its creators during development.
The MTN Water Based 300 has several features that make it special. The names of its colors are classic chromatic references to artistic painting, and on the labels there are equivalents in different values such as Pantone, RGB and CMYK in addition to technical information regarding the level of opacity, resistance to U.V. the pigment code of each color.
In key with the creative progression that characterizes Montana Colors, the success of Water Based 300 resulted in a little sibling: the Water Based 100. It is the miniature version of the Water Based 300 that, offered in packs, is the perfect aerosol to introduce children to this technique through professional workshops.
