Return European Graffiti Bids Farewell to Henk Kramer
It’s still hard to process.
It’s been a sad weekend for the graffiti community, especially for the MTN family, since Friday, when we learned of the sudden passing of Henk Kramer — distributor, merchant, salesman, colleague, and friend.
Henk, the first official MTN distributor, was a key figure in the development of graffiti culture in Europe. Proof of this is the wave of social media tributes that followed his sudden absence, a collective homage rarely seen, especially for someone in his role as a supplier of products.
Not only those closest to his business have wanted to pay tribute to his memory — from Angelo Lospinuso, director of SprayPlanet USA, to Dilk from MTN Shop Nottingham, and of course, Jordi Rubio himself. Historic and influential writers from the Netherlands and surrounding areas, such as Mickey TFP, Karski and Seyar have dedicated posts in his honor, alongside figures from various fields. Meanwhile, the post by @montana_colors together with @montanashop.amsterdam has received hundreds of condolence comments, signed by people and entities like Pjay (USA), Nase (ARG-NLD), Roids (UK), Lovepusher (UK), Druid (NLD), Vyal (USA), Jase (USA), Atomico (USA), Bomber Megazine, Galeria Koloru, Street Art Museum… among more than 300 others.
But the expressions of affection have also come in person, with many people visiting the MTN Shop Amsterdam to offer condolences and leave flowers, received by Mingus, who, along with Linda and Lewis, always supported their father’s project.
Henk left too soon, so suddenly that no one was prepared for it. Yet, he leaves behind an indestructible legacy — not only because of his history but also for the inspiration he brought to everyone he crossed paths with.
“At the time, Jordi named Lewis Blue and Mingus Green in honor of his daughter Lewis and his son Mingus.
Amsterdam and the Netherlands mourn his loss. And they celebrate his legacy. The Henx MTN Store.”
