Return FUCK YOU COVID 19 - GARGAR IS COMINGAfter its postponement in May, the 5th edition of the 2020 Gargar Rural Art and Mural Festival is finally here, against all odds, given the circumstances we’ve all known, shared and suffered.
This is the organization’s way of offering their sympathy and encouragement to a cultural sector that is feeling the effects of the pandemic in an unfair and stark way — while appreciating the cooperation of the institutions and sponsors without which the this project would be compromised: Montana Colors, an indispensable accomplice to the festival since its inception, reaffirms its commitment to Gargar, even in these difficult times.
This means Gargar Festival will be around for a while: a loudspeaker and showcase that is culturally and socially beneficial for the area, and has a positive economic impact through the generation of direct and indirect employment, all the while generating a flow of an estimated 30,000 visitors through the small village annually.
Over the course of five years and thanks to the management work of the members of Binomic - the graphic design studio based in Penelles that pushed the Gargar composed by Jordi Solsona, and María del Mar López-Pinto - the festival has established itself as a referential meeting point, both because of the rural environment where it’s located, as well as for the quality of the artistic proposals of the creators who come from all around the globe, year after year, to meet in the small village of Penelles in Lleida.
The format of this edition is a little different: a festival that lasts throughout the whole month of August, with the participation of 9 artists, 3 exhibitions, online interviews with the artists taking part and a round table; a full-blown collection of talent that will pay tribute to the early graffiti scenes of the 70s and 80s, the theme that most of the Gargar 2020 proposals will revolve around.
The lineup for this edition is composed of Bernie Puig, David L, Jay Visual, Leo Villoro, Musa71, Slim Safont, Chus Montejano, Zabou, Zach Oreo, and Zeso WF.
